If so, it is important to be aware of the new rules for the Spanish tax return for non-residents (IRNR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For <strong>24 June 2026<\/strong> Have any changes been made to the declaration obligations for foreign property owners? The new regulation aims to give the Spanish Tax Agency more insight into the income and assets of non-residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But what does this mean for you in concrete terms?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>More information required for rented properties<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Are you renting out your property in Spain (for example, as a holiday let or for the long term)? If so, more information will need to be provided on your tax return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From now on, the Spanish Tax Agency is asking for, among other things:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a precise identification of the property;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the total rental income received;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the increased deductible expenses;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the calculation of net taxable income.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Tax Administration wants to be able to check tax returns more effectively with this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Annual tax return remains possible for many European owners<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For residents of the European Union and the European Economic Area, it remains possible to declare certain rental income via an annual combined tax return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This means fewer administrative procedures and a clearer tax return for many foreign owners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Check your data<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to the substantive changes, the personal data registered with the Tax Authorities is also becoming more important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Therefore, check that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>whether your NIE or NIF is still current;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>that your address details are correct;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>your tax data matches reality.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A correct registration prevents delays or queries from the Spanish Tax Agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Are you selling your home?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Are you planning to sell your property in Spain?
